The band's line-up consists of vocalist Sonny Sandoval, drummer Wuv Bernardo, guitarist Marcos Curiel, and bassist Traa Daniels. \nThey have released seven studio albums and have sold over 10 million records worldwide. Over the course of their career, the band have also received three Grammy Award nominations, contributed to numerous motion picture soundtracks and toured internationally. With their third studio album, The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, they achieved their initial mainstream success; the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2000. Their following studio album, Satellite, continued the band's success with the singles, \"Alive\" and \"Youth of the Nation\", pushing it to go triple platinum.\nIn 1991, friends Marcos Curiel and Wuv Bernardo engaged in jam sessions, with Marcos covering guitar and Wuv playing the drums with no vocalist. Calling themselves Eschatos, they started playing at keg parties doing Metallica and Slayer cover songs.\nAfter his mother's fatal illness, Sonny Sandoval converted to Christianity and was asked by his cousin, Wuv Bernardo, to join the band as a way to keep his mind straight as mentioned on their DVD, Still Payin' Dues. P.O.D. enregistre en 1998 le mini-album « The Warriors E.P. » chez Tooth and Nails. Le mot Warriors sera dorénavant utilisé pour qualifier les fans du groupe.\nC’est en 1999 que sort l’album « The Fundamental Elements of Southtown » signé chez la major Atlantic Records (AC/DC ; Rolling Stones…). Les titres « Southtown » et « Hollywood » seront régulièrement joués lors des concerts. On notera une reprise intéressante de U2 formation que P.O.D. a toujours cité en exemple « Bullet the blue sky » extrait de « The Joshua tree ».\n\nA force de tournées incessantes le groupe se fait un nom et gagne le respect des foules. \n\nPuis, en 2002, paraît l’album « Satellite » qui rencontre un succès mondial. Połączenie pozytywnego przesłania z wściekłym rock’n’rollem, zaowocowało serią radiowych hitów, takich jak chociażby \"Southtown\", \"Rock The Party (Off The Hook)\", \"School Of Hard Knocks\", \"Boom\", \"Youth Of The Nation\", czy \"Alive\". Dwa ostatnie utwory, nominowane do nagrody Grammy, to najważniejsze piosenki na dobrze przyjętej, drugiej płycie zespołu, zatytułowanej \"Satellite\". Album ukazał się 11 września 2001 roku, premiera przypadła na czas, kiedy Ameryka musiała uporać się z wydarzeniami tego tragicznego dnia…\nPo trwającym dwa lata światowym tournee, promującym album (krążek ten uzyskał miano potrójnej platynowej płyty), Marcos zdecydował się na rozpoczęcie kariery solowej (luty 2003). Muzycy P.O.D. nigdy nie przypuszczali, że znajdą się w podobnej sytuacji. Potrzebny był im ktoś, kto dałby im inspirację do kontynuowania ich muzycznej wizji. Nie chcieli stracić takiej szansy, zadzwonili więc do swojego starego znajomego Jasona Truby’ego, niegdyś grającego w Living Sacrifice, thrashmetalowej kapeli z Arkansas.
